Jazz Poetry Jams feat. Simeon Taylor: January 20, 2009

Held in the smoke-free Blue Room jazz club and featuring special guest poets, an open mic competition, and a live jazz group, Jazz Poetry Jams is a must-see event for lovers of creative personal expression, jazz & the spoken word – and has turned into a standing-room-only event.
Each session begins with a 30 minute set performed by the Jazz Poetry Jams house band, followed by a performance from the featured guest poet of either local or national renown. The remainder of the evening is dedicated to the open-mic competition, where three people are chosen from the audience to judge each poet in three different areas: stage presence, poetic content and delivery.

Performing as guest poet for the January 2009 session is KC native Simeon Taylor, a former winner of the Jazz Poetry Slam at the Blue Room. To learn more about Simeon Taylor and for audio/video clips, click here. Session begins at 7:00pm in Blue Room on Tuesday, January 20, 2009.
